  • San Diegans are invited to visit the club and turn their daily cardio session into an opportunity to help disabled athletes by donating or gathering pledges of $30 for each 30-minute block of time they spin on a bike.
  • The goal is to have at least one spinner on a bike for the duration of the event from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Members of CAF, as well as a few of the athletes, will be on hand to encourage and inspire the spinners.
  • Various instructors from Broadway Athletic and Swim Club will help inspire participants for the entire 13 hours.
  • To reserve a time block or make a donation to CAF, contact broadwayathletic@plusone.com or call 619-955-8411.

“It is CAF’s mission to provide opportunities and support to people with physical disabilities so they can pursue active lifestyles,” said Torrie Tinley, CAF’s Development Manager. “This would not be possible without the help of supporters like Broadway Athletic and Swim Club. Not only will this event be challenging and rewarding, but most importantly, it will allow people to see first-hand how they are changing the lives of challenged athletes.”

About the Challenged Athletes Foundation

The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) is a world leader in helping individuals with physical challenges get involved – and stay involved – in sports. CAF believes that participation in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life. Since 1994, more than $36 million has been raised and almost 6,000 funding requests from challenged athletes in all 50 states and dozens of countries have been satisfied. Additionally, CAF’s outreach efforts reach another 60,000 individuals each year. Whether it’s a $2,500 grant for a handcycle, helping underwrite a carbon fiber running foot not covered by insurance, or arranging enthusiastic encouragement from a mentor who has triumphed over a similar challenge, CAF’s mission is clear: give those with the desire to live active, athletic lifestyles every opportunity to compete in the sports they love.
