Wind Advisory Issued Until Monday Afternoon

The National Weather Service is forecasting wind gusts of up to 50 mph along desert and mountain slopes.

Strong, gusty winds were expected to blow across the mountain and desert areas of San Diego County Sunday, and may create unsafe driving conditions on some local highways, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory, in effect until Monday afternoon, for sustained winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour. The strongest winds were expected near ridgetops along desert and mountain slopes.

The California Highway Patrol issued a wind warning for East County and the Borrego Springs area in particular. All motorists, especially those driving high-profile vehicles, should drive with caution, the CHP said.

Isolated showers and patches of fog and drizzle were also expected Sunday, affecting road conditions and visibility. Strong winds may down trees and power lines, the NWS said.

The winds were expected to continue Sunday night into Monday, according to the NWS.

The National Weather Service forecast for Ramona:

Sunday Afternoon: Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Southwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Isolated showers before 10pm, then a chance of drizzle between 10pm and 4am, then a slight chance of showers after 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday: Showers, mainly after 10am. High near 55. South wind between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Monday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4am. Low around 40. West wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
