Wildcat Canyon, San Vicente Road Intersection To Close Temporarily Sunday Morning

Written by Melissa Phy

Thanks to a mandatory pole realignment by San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) for the impending San Vicente Road Widening Project, an intersection near the San Diego Country Estates will be temporarily and intermittently be closed early Sunday morning, the agency said.

Juanita Hayes, a public affairs officer for SDG&E, said conduit will need to be pulled across the road for the project. In order to keep residents safe, workers will pull the lines on May 19 from about 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. at the intersection of San Vicente and Wildcat Canyon Roads.

"We don't like to do it during lots of traffic," Hayes said. "We figure everyone will be safer if we do it at this time."

Hayes said only four wires need to be transfered across the road and each should take about 15 minutes, though they're giving workers a two-hour work period for good measure. Workers will have small breaks in between the transfer of each wire to allow for traffic to move through.

"If there is a line of cars of an emergency vehicle that needs to ge through, we can stop immediately and let them through, no problem," Hayes said.
