Small Earthquake Rattles East County

The 3.0 quake Saturday afternoon about 25 miles from Ramona.

A 3.0 earthquake jolted East County on Saturday afternoon. The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the epicenter was in a remote area south of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, about 25 miles east-southeast of Ramona.

The quake struck at 2:32 p.m. and a spokesman with the sheriff’s department said there were no calls about damage or injuries.

Seismic detectors for the Geological Survey indicated that the epicenter was located 5.4 miles beneath the ground.
