Record Heat Bakes Ramona

Wednesday's high temperature broke the record set in 1999 by five degrees.

The heat wave that scorched Ramona Wednesday easily beat the record high temperature, with a 101-degree reading topping the 96 degrees in 1996. Other records that fell Wednesday include:

  • El Cajon, 104 degrees (formerly 97, set in 1999).
  • Vista, 99 (formerly 95, set in 1983).
  • Alpine, 97 (formerly 95, set in 1999).
  • Chula Vista, 95 (formerly 92, set in 1991).

Hot weather will continue through Thursday, but temperatures are not expected to be as high. The National Weather Service forecast for Ramona:

Wednesday night: Clear, with a low around 64. East wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Thursday: Sunny, with a high near 96. East wind between 5 and 10 mph becoming calm.

Thursday Night: Clear, with a low around 58. West wind between 5 and 10 mph becoming calm.

Friday: Sunny, with a high near 89. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph.
