Borrego Springs, Ocotillo Wells Under Wind Advisory

The advisory will take effect at 2 p.m. Tuesday and expire very early Wednesday morning.

A National Weather Service advisory for winds gusting up to about 50 mph in San Diego County desert areas today could make for hazardous big rig driving.

West winds at 20-30 mph with gusts of up to about 50 mph are possible, and visibility could be limited to 3 miles or less due to blowing sand and dust, according to the NWS.

The wind advisory takes effect at 2 p.m. and is scheduled to expire at 3 a.m. Wednesday, covering Borrego Springs and Ocotillo Wells, along Borrego Springs Road and state Route 78, east of the Vallecito Mountains and along Highway S2 from south of Shelter Valley to the San Diego-Imperial County line deserts.
