Fix the NDAA, Now!

Citizens bridge the ideological divide to collectively demand that Congress fix the 2012 NDAA.

On February 3, 2012, 25 people stood together in front of Congressman Duncan Hunter’s office to demand that the 2012 NDAA be fixed.  The sections of the NDAA that the group was focused on authorize the military to grab and detain US citizens, from US soil, and hold them without trial.

The group was made up of Conservative Christians, Atheists, Tea Party, Occupy, Ramona Forum and other Progressives.  This diverse group of concerned citizens, reached across the ideological divide to join hands as citizens against the continued shredding of our Constitution and Bill of Rights.  Three were candidates running against Hunter from the Libertarian, Republican and Democratic parties.  Several that wanted Hunter to resign for failing to live up to his oath, and there were 5 others that came to defend Hunter.

Many people spoke compassionately about standing up in support of the Constitution, and how the continued shredding of our rights was making this nation a dangerous place to live.  Also speaking was Mike Harrison, Deputy Chief of Staff for Duncan Hunter, and he passed out the attached document explaining Hunter’s position that the NDAA changes nothing.  Only the Hunter supporters believed it, perhaps.

This was an incredibly empowering event with Americans of all stripes speaking publicly to one issue, the changing of the NDAA.   The next event will be at the Democratic Caucus and Convention at Children’s Park in San Diego, Saturday February 11 at 12 noon.  There the same group of patriots will stand and give the same message to our Senators Boxer and Feinstein; Fix the NDAA or resign, now!
