Winery Event on Sunday

Escape to a stylish Italian cottage with wine tastings and a Sunday dinner event.

Looking for a way to escape with someone? Mommy-free time is great, but often it’s nice to spend it with a friend, co-worker, family member or romantic partner. Fly from the nest for a couple of hours. Call up the babysitter and let them know you’ll be hitting up a winery on Sunday.

Valentine’s Day is on a Monday this year, and it my be tough to motivate someone for a date night on a week night. It’s important though. Stay firm with your desires to spend a couple of hours away. It will do wonders for your mind and relationships. According to Arthur Aron, a professor of psychology who spoke to the New York Times, “date night” is about reinvention. Doing the same old thing every couple of weeks can create stability and safety, but to renew that love commitment between you and your partner, the goal is to “keep injecting novelty” into date night events, says Aron.

This week, we’re suggesting the at 17948 state Route 67, in Ramona. Contact them at (760) 788-7160 or visit their website at www.salernowinery.com.

In 2003, Salerno won gold, silver, and bronze metals for their Petite Sirah Estate.  Their wines are distributed nationally and throughout Califorina, as well as at the Godfather Restaurant, Albertson’s, and Costco in San Diego.

Tours of the winery are encouraged, as well as membership to the exclusive Wine Club, which offers tastings, outings, and selections from typical wines like Pinot Noir, Petite Sirah, Bianco Tosto, Elegante, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Barbera to special/premium selections including Muscat Canelli, Temptation, Perfection, Petite Sirah 2002/2003, and Lagrein.

The winery’s quaint, welcoming house with a tasting patio and rolling vistas of Ramona are just the thing to unwind from the busy role of a mom.

On Sundays, or for an early Valentine’s Day treat, guests who make a reservation can enjoy “Sunday at Salerno.” Herman cooks Italian pizza in a wood burning oven and selects award winning wines for diners' enjoyment.

Whether it’s an evening meal or a wine tasting, Salerno’s Mediterranean-style ambiance will brighten up any Monday or Valentine’s Day. Enjoy your mommy day, or night out.
