Grocery Outlet Opens in Poway: Will Ramonans Take Advantage?

The new store, located at 13345 Poway Rd., offers prices up to 50 percent less than conventional retailers.

A Grocery Outlet opened this week in Poway, offering prices up to 50 percent less than conventional retailers by specializing in opportunistic sourcing, they said.

The grocery store says they buy discounted close-outs of excess inventory from national brand-name manufacturers and private-labels — including fresh produce, organic goods, dry groceries, beauty items and beer and wine — and pass those savings onto their customers.

In an article by the U-T San Diego, some customers report the choices at the Grocery Outlet in Oceanside slim pickin's, with one shopper calling expiration dates and selection a "hit or miss."

The new store, which is officially open to customers, is located at 13345 Poway Rd. in Poway. There is a grand celebration at the store today.

Weigh in: With grocery options limited in Ramona, do you think it's worth the drive to save on groceries? Or do you think it's not worth the gas money? Tell us in the comments.
