Pet of the Month: Sweet Amy

The Escondido Humane Society shares their August Pet of the Month.

With the upcoming competition, The Escondido Humane Society is sharing their August pet of the month with Ramona.

Amy is a 4-year-old spayed female mediumhair mix who is very affection and loves to snuggle and be petted.

She also enjoys playing and likes to indulge in her kitty treats. She knows she is special and prefers to call the shots, so she would do best as the only feline in her new home.

If one look at Amy has you swooning, she'll be available for adoption from the Escondido Humane Society (EHS), located 3450 E. Valley Parkway. Her $25 adoption fee in August includes her spay, microchip, up-to-date vaccinations and vet exam. You can visit the shelter and ask to see Amy, whose ID number is 59479.

For more information, call 760-888-2247 or log on to the humane society's website.

The Escondido Humane Society Adoption Center is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. seven days a week.

From Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, the EHS and other participating shelters will compete to find homes for 33 percent more cats and dogs than it did during the same period in 2011. If they beat 49 shelters nationwide to adopt the most animals, the society will receive a $100,000 grant from the ASPCA.

Help out your local shelter and see if Amy is meant to be part of your family.
