An unlicensed driver in his 20s from Ramona caused a three-car collision Thursday afternoon when he made a left-hand turn in front of a vehicle on state Route 78 at Third Street, said the California Highway Patrol.

The unlicensed driver was heading west on Highway 78 in a silver Honda when he turned left in front of a gold SUV traveling east on the road, thinking he had enough time to make the turn, CHP Officer Jeff Christy said.

The SUV collided with the passenger side of the Honda, forcing the compact car into a Toyota pickup truck that was stopped at Third Street waiting to turn right onto Highway 78, according to the officer.

Christy said there were seven people total involved, but only the driver of the Honda had injuries—a laceration above his eye. All three vehicles were towed, according to CHP.

No one was transported, everyone involved were wearing seat belts and alcohol is not suspected.

The Honda driver was cited for driving without a license.
