Teen Battle of the Bands Makes Noise at the County Library

To join the battle, teen bands must submit demos by Friday.

It's not every day you can break out the guitar at the library, but local teens are being asked to do just that for the San Diego County Library's fourth annual teen Battle of the Bands.

Applications and demos, which don't have to be professionally produced, are being accepted until Friday. Bands chosen from this batch will compete at one of two battles: 1-4 p.m. July 27 at the Poway Library or 1-4 p.m. Aug. 10 at the El Cajon Library. The top three bands from each event will compete at a final event on Aug. 17 at the Poway Library.

The requirements:
• Demos and applications submitted by Friday, June 21.
—At the Poway Library, 13137 Bowron Rd.
—At the El Cajon Library, 201 E. Douglas Ave.
—By mail: Attn: Anna Hartman, SD County Library, 5560 Overland Ave. #110, San Diego, CA 92123
• All band members between 12-18 years old.
• Clean, family-friendly song lyrics.
• Must provide own equipment. Library will provide the sound system.
