San Diego Zoo Safari Park is a 'Cool' Place in Autumn

With summer's heat behind us and holidays ahead, the park offers relaxing strolls and some enticing gift ideas.

Some like it hot—but if you have young children in tow, autumn can be a perfect season to visit San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Animals are often more active and visible as they feed in the cooler temperatures, and the distance between attractions seems a little less as temperatures drop.

Many people took advantage of the weather over Thanksgiving weekend and took in the sights at the park, which include the and close-up views of the roaring lions.

The golds and reds of autumn accent the foliage at the park at this time of year, with fallen leaves carpeting the Roar and Snore camping area.

On the way out, some visitors meandered through the stores to check out the holiday gifts such as musical Santa hats, animal tree ornaments, wine accessories, international arts and crafts and winter-themed mugs.

People who can't make it to the park before the holidays can shop for gifts online to support the non-profit organization in its research, education and conservation efforts.
