Julian Daffodil Days Continue Through Sunday Afternoon

Hundreds of people visited Julian Town Hall on Saturday to check out a multitude of daffodils as part of the annual . Some bought bunches of the fragrant flowers to take home. The Daffodil Show continues on Sunday.

A few stores in town have painted daffodils on their front windows.

Julian Elementary set up a display on Main Street to tell visitors about their garden project. Students are growing daffodils and vegetables with the help of federal and county grants. They hope to plant lavender too.

A miniature horse, and his owner A.H.L. Martin, waited patiently for any children who wanted a ride around town.

Roadside embankments and people's gardens are still blooming with daffodils, even though the flowers “took a pounding” during recent snows, according to residents. Visitors wanting to see the daffodils shouldn't wait too long. The expected increase in temperatures is expected to take its toll.

Julian’s daffodil planting began in 1990 when resident, master gardener, artist and educator Sally Snipes created a project in memory of her father, Jack Snipes, who was a community gardener.

Snipes is helping the Julian Elementary students with their garden project.

The Daffodil Show at Julian Town Hall will continue from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. For more information, contact the Julian Chamber of Commerce at 760-765-1857.
