Historical Lecture: Tanis C. Thorne

Visit the San Diego Archaeological Center on April 28 for a brief lecture by historian Tanis C. Thorne, Ph.D. on her newest book, El Capitan: Adaptation and Agency on a Southern California Indian Reservation.

The book tells the untold story of the eviction of the Capitan Grande Indians to make way for El Capitan dam and is a major event in San Diego County history. A Southern California native, Thorne has taught Native American Studies at UC Irvine for the last twenty years.

She also is the suthor of The Many Hands of My Relations and The World's Richest Indian. Thorne will be signing books at a wine and cheese reception following her presentation.
