Stretch or Dance Your Way into the New Year

The Ramona Library offers up free weekly yoga and Zumba classes.

We've talked New Year's resolutions and boot camps to get you in shape for 2013, but some people need something a little less... intense.

The Ramona Library has some free activities that can ease you into shape and the best part is, they're free!

According to the U.S. Department of Heath and Human Services, more than two-thirds of adults in the United States are reported to be overweight or obese. So, it's no surprise that living a healthier lifestyle is one of the country's most popular New Year's resolutions.

The San Diego County Libraries are encouraging all ages to make 2013 their healthiest year yet by offering a variety of health and wellness classes at branches throughout the county.

Here in Ramona, residents can get in shape with yoga or dance their way to fitness with zumba. January offerings at our local library include:

  • Yoga on Tuesdays at 11 a.m.
  • Zumba on Fridays at 11 a.m.

According to a press release from the San Diego County Library, Ramona Library zumba instructor Angelica Deaver loves helping out residents with their weight loss by dancing it off.

"I want to help [library customers] get fit and have a day for themselves," Deaver said. "One of my students has already lost 10 pounds!"
