A "" lit up the sky last Friday night and a local resident captured the rare sight and posted her picture up on Patch.
Ramonan Gail Edwards took a picture of the Aug. 31 moon with a telescope as seen from the San Diego Country Estates.
Blue moons are defined as either the fourth full moon in a season, or, more recently, as the second full moon in a month. The first full moon in August was on the first.
Thanks for sharing this spectacular shot of such a rare sight, Gail!
