Mary Kay Pinkard Exhibit Celebrates Town Hall's 119th Birthday

Residents can visit Town Hall Saturday for a unique look at Ramona's history.

Back in August, the Ramona Town Hall Association received pieces of history from lifetime Ramona resident Mary Kay Pinkard, who passed away at the end of June 2012, and today, residents can get a glance at them all.

To celebrate the Town Hall's 119th anniversary, the association is putting on a special exhibit showcasing Pinkard's historical items, including including Turkey Days dresses and costumes, old photographs and more.

Woody Kirkman said that the items were originally left at Ramona's Chamber of Commerce, where Pinkard ran the office for nearly a quarter of a century. They've been preserved by Pinkard and will now call Ramona Town Hall "home."

Pinkard was the town's very first honorary mayor from 1984 to 1986. She was known for her turkey feather creations, including gowns, parasols, hats and other unique creations.

Guests can stop by Ramona Town Hall today, Feb. 23, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. to see the rare and unique items and enjoy a piece of Ramona history.
