Rare WWII-era Fighter Planes to be Displayed

The “Wings of Freedom“ Tour brings vintage World War II-era planes to Ramona for a three-day display.

The tour, sponsored by the Collings Foundation, includes the Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine” Heavy Bomber, Consolidated B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft” Heavy Bomber and P-51 Mustang. 

Planes will arrive at 2 p.m. May 4 and be in Ramona through May 6.

Display open 2 to 5 p.m. May 4; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 5 and 9 a.m. to noon May 6.

Discounted rates available for school groups. Visitors also may take a 30-minute flight on either the B-17 or B-24 for $425 per person. P-51 flights are $2,200 for a half hour and $3,200 for a full hour. For reservations and information, call (800) 568-8924.
