Neighborhood Healthcare Hosts Free Dental Clinic

Neighborhood Healthcare, a nonprofit community health center, will host a free dental sealant, screening and varnish clinic on October 22, 2011 for infants, children and teenagers.

The Saturday event will provide each child with a free dental assessment and a fluoride varnish, a coating painted onto their teeth to prevent new cavities and to help stop cavities that have already started.

Thanks to the collaboration of efforts between the North County Dental Task Force, Neighborhood Healthcare, First 5 San Diego, Share the Care, San Diego County Dental Society, and a dedicated volunteer team of San Diego dentists, hygienists and assistants, between 200 and 300 children will receive care.

“We are appreciative of our partners who make this free dental clinic available,” says Tracy Ream, Neighborhood Healthcare’s CEO. “It’s a real testament to our mutual commitment to children’s health and we couldn’t make this happen without all the wonderful volunteers and sponsors.” says Ream.

The free clinic will give children an opportunity to receive care regardless of their families’ financial situations. Prizes, games, scavenger hunts and important community resource information will entertain and inform families while they wait their turn to see a dentist.
