Avocados big day is game day - Super Bowl Sunday. The Huffington Post said Americans are expected to consume 79 million pounds of avocados around the championship game or roughly 158 million avocados, but the California drought is negatively impacting the crops.

It is reportedly the driest growing season on record in California and many crops are suffering, including the avocado. CBS said 90 percent of the country's supply comes from California. The lack of rain is causing multiple and often costly complications—it is expensive to import water and imported water causes crop damage.
