SDSU’s College of Extended Studies will offer a Beginning Social Media course as part of its Professional Certificate in Digital and Social Media program Tuesdays, Sept. 20-Oct. 11, 6-9 pm.
In this course, students will receive a broad overview of applications such as Google apps, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Flickr, Skype, and YouTube as media professionals’ tools. The class will also explore managing online applications and social networks and web branding.
The instructor for the course is Dorrine Mendoza, who is the online content producer for the North County Times.
The Professional Certificate in Digital and Social Media program is designed for professionals who would like to hone their skills in how to use multimedia tools and how to harness the interactive power of the Internet to build an audience. Students will receive training in how to build their own web presence, including a website, a blog, an audio slideshow, and a video; as well as develop skills in social networking and search engine optimization.
