Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside Receive $9,500 in New Sporting Equipment, 24 Hour Fitness and Good Sports Support Local Children and Encourage Youth Fitness

On Oct. 22, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside received hundreds of pieces of sports and exercise equipment valued at approximately $9,500. The generous donation was made by fitness club chain 24 Hour Fitness and national nonprofit Good Sports to support youth fitness. Dozens of the Clubs’ children joined leaders from 24 Hour Fitness to receive the donation, including more than 400 hundred basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, flag football equipment, Wiffle® ball equipment, stopwatches and jerseys.

“Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside are so appreciative of the generosity of Good Sports and 24 Hour Fitness. We look forward to seeing increased involvement in our health and fitness programs with the implementation of such high quality equipment,” said Kirsten Robinson, grant coordinator, Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside. “Our kids are so deserving of this amazing gift, and we are ecstatic to see their excitement!”

Following the donation presentation, personal trainers from the nearby 24 Hour Fitness® Oceanside Sport club led kids through a fun workout. Children learned how to perform exhilarating kid-themed exercises, including bear crawls, duck walks and frog jumps.

“Our goal is to ensure all kids have the opportunity to engage in sports and fitness and are able to reap all the benefits that go along with those opportunities,” said Christy Keswick, chief operating officer, Good Sports. “We are excited to partner with 24 Hour Fitness to make this donation to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Oceanside, as we believe it will give more kids a chance to participate and get in the game.”

Committed to improving lives through fitness, 24 Hour Fitness has been part of the Oceanside community and the greater San Diego area for more than 30 years. The generous donation will serve nearly 1,500 local children who are members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside. Since 1952, the Clubs have supported local underprivileged youth with fun and constructive academics, sports and activities. The equipment provided will ensure that for years to come, the Clubs’ children will have the equipment they need to stay active and fit.
