Ramonans Build Snowman at Midnight After the White Stuff Falls as Low as 1,500 Feet
Snow fell in downtown Ramona Saturday night, like it did on Valentine's Day in 2008, according to local residents. But this time, "it was much more."
Snow fell heavily in San Diego Country Estates in eastern Ramona Saturday night. It also fell lightly in downtown Ramona, which is just below 1,500 feet. The downtown snow melted quickly as it hit the ground.
In the Ramona Oaks area of the Country Estates, there was enough snow to build snowmen. The opportunity wasn't wasted on two brothers and a cousin, one of whom is leaving Ramona for boot camp Tuesday.
Glendon Zane will go to Navy boot camp in Great Lakes, Ill., and then head for training in South Carolina. Glendon's brother Brandon Barnum joined him in the snowman construction, as did their cousin Alex Sandoval.
Glendon said he remembers snow falling in Ramona on Valentine's Day in 2008.
"It wasn't nearly this much," he said.
Another family told Ramona Patch they were going out sledding late Saturday night in the estates.
