Navy Flyover Tuesday Was Part of a Commercial

Eight fighter jets and some refueling tankers were seen flying over parts of San Diego county.

When it all hits the fan, will you run away from it or toward it, with the Marines?

That's the theme of a Navy recruitment commercial coming out in 2012, and some San Diego county residents got a peek at the action Tuesday when they saw eight fighter planes and some refueling tankers flying over. The planes were seen in Ramona and Lakeside.

"We had two KC-130s and eight F/A-18s flying in formation today to support the filming of the Marine Corps Recruiting Command's new commercial," said First Lt. Maureen Dooley, a Marine Corps spokeswoman, to Patch by email on Tuesday.

"We had done filming a few weeks ago off the coast of Camp Pendleton, but the weather was bad one day with a low ceiling so they could not get the footage they needed initially," she said.

The commercial will be called Sounds of Chaos, and will highlight "the full spectrum of the Marine Air-Ground Task Force carrying out an attack against an enemy, including troops on the ground and an assault from the air," according to an article on the Defense Video and Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS).

Dooley said the F/A 18s can refuel from the KC-130s—the big belly planes—while in the air.
